Now from the image above if I remove the extension the opening that the extension goes into is bigger than the bore so would this have to get hacked and then the barrel recrowned? If so it looks like I'll just have to use that shorter muzzle break. Sorry for the long story I'm just trying to make the most of the situation and don't want questions like why did you buy the gun. He wants to use it as a project gun now and get a nice albanian or russian to leave as is military issue. Well I cleaned the rust off and it still has maybe 80% of blue left. throw away the grenade launcher, make sure that grenade sight is removed, and feed that old. Well my brother was emotional distraught and put the rifle in a place where he couldn't see it. This Bubbad Yugo SKS is now mine, minus the trigger lock. That doesn't appear to be the answer from what I see in the photo. Some Dremel the ladder to clear what they have installed. Some change out the gas block to a non-Yugo block, thus keeping the ladder and block re-usable. To be honest I don't like the yugo as sks's go, but it's my brothers and his girlfriend had rearranged some stuff in their trunk that leaked and put the yugo case in some water which rusted the rifle up. Removal of the ladder sight is discussed on SKS sites. Instead of 20" you end up with 24", not much of a carbine if you ask me. Well the 2 1/8" inches is pretty good it's just that the the threaded extension plus the launcher or any three inch attachment adds about 4 inches to the barrel.
